Beach Bliss

I tell you what, I could live at the beach. I love it. My kids love it. Ben loves that we love it. Can it get any better. This past weekend (thanks to Terry and Geneil) we escaped to the beach for 4 days. One of the best parts of the weekend was the Peterson's staying 2 doors down.
Tatum went on a walk each morning with them for donuts, she loved it.

FASHION ISLAND

PEI WEI

The best part about beach days the kids sleep so well.

3 Seconds of Clean

I can bathe these two and within seconds of the bath they are DIRTY! Even if we have just stayed at home and played indoors all day my two still looked like they have rolled in the mud. They have food stuck in between their fingers and in their hair. They are just sticky little grubs. It is a NECESSITY that they SOAK in the bath every night.

feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick...

Was I Living the Gospel Fully?

By Carolynn R. Spencer

Carolynn R. Spencer, “Was I Living the Gospel Fully?,” Ensign, July 2009, 71

"My scripture study would have to wait. All three of our sons had awakened—and much earlier than usual. The youngest, Caden, then 18 months old, was screaming in his crib. I went into his room and saw instantly that he was sick.

Thus began a Monday of one challenge after another. At one point, shortly after I had changed Caden’s clothes and tried to feed him, he flung a large jar onto the floor, spilling applesauce everywhere and sending shattered glass across the kitchen. As I was cleaning up the mess, I thought about all the things I wasn’t getting done: family history, service, home storage, missionary work.

“How in the world can I do everything I know I should be doing when I am barely managing the basic tasks of my day?” I wondered. By early evening I was exhausted, but I set aside discouraging thoughts during dinner, family home evening, and the boys’ bath and bedtime routine.

Finally, with the children in bed, I sat down to do what I had not had time for earlier. I picked up the May 2006 Ensign, which was open to a talk by President Henry B. Eyring titled “As a Child.” My eyes fell on a passage I had previously marked: “To keep the blessing of [changed natures] in our hearts will require determination, effort, and faith. King Benjamin taught at least some of what that will require. He said that to retain a remission of our sins from day to day we must feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick, and help people spiritually and temporally” (Liahona and Ensign, May 2006, 17).

Immediately, I again felt that I wasn’t living the gospel fully. I wondered, “How can I feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick, and help people spiritually and temporally when I can scarcely take care of my own family?”

That’s when I experienced an overwhelming feeling of divine approval. It was so clear, precise, and tangible that I knew I had to write it down so I wouldn’t forget. I could see my day replay in my mind—full of feeding the hungry, doing laundry to clothe the naked (I changed Caden’s outfit multiple times), gently caring for our sick baby, helping our five-year-old prepare a family home evening lesson on missionary work, and then discussing the power of example with my family—in other words, helping people spiritually and temporally.

The impression flowed with such an overpowering feeling of peace that I knew the Lord was telling me He had accepted my offering. In caring for my family, I was fulfilling the admonitions of King Benjamin and President Eyring.

Sometimes I feel like my offering is not enough, and at times it isn't. There is always more to do, more I can do, but this reminded me of how important my calling as a mother is. There are days when taking care of my family IS enough.

It's a ............................

GIRL, or so we think. We are pretty sure. We had an ultrasound last week and after looking at 20 different angles (with no visible kick stand) the ultrasound technician determined that she was 'pretty sure' it was a GIRL. The baby (being difficult) didn't give us a straight on shot, but with the amount of doctor appointments I have, ultrasounds included I am sure we will have a confirmation soon.

So just in case it might be a boy, all we have to do is remove the bow!

We are thrilled that we are 'pretty sure' it's a GIRL but will be equally as thrilled if it's a boy(slim chance). After the rough past couple of months we have had, we are just ecstatic that the baby is looking healthy.

College Employment

I had a handful of different jobs throughout my college years but spent the most time working at PF Chang's and Barnes and Noble. I worked at Chang's for about 3 years and during the first few months of our marriage I brought home a lot of take-out. I still love their food.

So Saturday night it was no surprise that when we wanted some good Chinese food, we ended up at Chang's. YUM. It is always so hard to pick because I love about 3/4 of the menu.

We had such a fun, relaxing night and I love just Ben and me time.

(So glad I married him)

After Chang's we ended up at Barnes and Noble. Can't wait to do it again!

Fearsome Twosome

I love that they are really starting to play together, but this also means there is more fighting too. Lincoln really knows how to push her buttons or get her attention and Tatum at times has little patience for her 'baby bwother,' but they love each other and most of the time get along.

Saturday Salon Day

I needed a haircut. I needed one bad. It had been about six almost seven months since my last hair cut/color. I was long overdue. Tatum needed a trim too. So, Saturday morning we headed to the Salon. Tatum was loving it. She got a wash, cut, blow dry and style, she was treated like royalty and was basking in all the attention. She loved it. The rest of the day she probably asked me at least 30 times, " mommy what do you fink of my hair?"

AFTER

So I hadn't intended on a short 'do, but I am loving it.

I can wear things like this...

.. and I am loving headbands,

and more importantly, I can still do this!

26 Hours of Vacation

We left Friday at 3 pm and were home Saturday by 5 pm.
I had the bags packed and the kids ready we were in the car minutes after Ben walked in the the door and on our way to San Diego. We stopped at the hotel, dropped off our bags, set up the port-a-crib and hopped back in the car. We went to PEI WEI for dinner then headed to Sea World for the night shows. The kids loved SHAMU ROCKS. Lincoln danced and ate through the whole show and Tatum gave us a play by play. It was magical.
The most magical part of the night, the kids fell asleep on the way back to the hotel. Doesn't sound so magical but we were able to transfer both kids from the car to their hotel beds without waking them up. They slept until 7:15 am the next morning.
That was magic.

Lincoln at the hotel.
We headed back to Sea World on Saturday.

Ben cannot handle rides that go in circles, he can't even watch us go on rides that go in circles. TeaCups, Merry Go Rounds, Dumbo Ride are not in his vocabulary so it was quite the sacrifice when they would not let me on Abby's Spinning Starfish (because I'm pregnant) and Ben stepped in.
He looks thrilled doesn't he?

Lincoln had planned on swimming with the starfish.

Tatum's favorite spot:
The Shark Encounter or as she likes to call it
Shark Tunnel

We even fed the Sea Lions
I see a lot of similarities at mealtimes with my kids ( and Ben) and the Sea Lions at mealtimes

And this is how I feel most days...

Mulitple Blessings

In the last month the Bunker family has added two new babies.
July 13, 2009 Jett Ronnow Bunker
August 8, 2009 Samara Jane Evans
We are so excited to have a new nephew and niece and Tatum loves having so many cousins. We can't wait to meet them.

Boy Scouts

We went to lunch today with Ben and ahead of us in line was a group of police officers. Tatum pointing her finger and in a nice and loud voice exclaimed, "Daddy look at all those boy scouts!"

The Olsen Triplet

She kept announcing she was a 'movie star,' I didn't even know she knew what that was.

Lincoln getting in on the fun.

S.A.S.S.Y.

I love bacon.

I don't think there is any other food that can illicit a hunger pang quite like the smell of frying bacon. I. love. bacon. Period.
Last night( like most nights) I was scrambling to figure out what to do for dinner. The choice was chicken tacos and rice or breakfast for dinner. I would have chosen the chicken tacos had I not had a pound of bacon in the fridge. It was a breakfast feast. Eggs, bacon, hash browns and waffles.

While prepping the waffle batter I had a little helper at my legs ( I think the smell of bacon got to him too). I turned to grab a measuring cup and Linc decided to mix the batter himself.

It scared him. The waffle batter mixed with tears turned to cement on his stomach.
Despite the set back we still had bacon.

B and B's

Bunker's and Bjarnason's
Our friends from Vegas were here for a short visit so I took the kids out to see them in Irvine. It was a quick get together but we had so much fun getting the kids reacquainted with one another.
