Initially when we moved into this new rental we were told the yard was off limits, but we have slowly infiltrated (with permission) and are really looking forward to our garden's harvest.
We have planted everything; pumpkins, tomatoes, corn, herbs, watermelon, onion, potatoes and flowers.
The garden is already yielding carrots and strawberries and herbs.
The kids love being out in the garden, they really love worms.
We let them pick out seed packets to plant, and we figured, it is worth the extra dollar a pack for the disney character on front!
